Celebrate the 20th MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards

Did you enjoy this year's Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival over 8th-10th July 2022? If so, then please take a moment to nominate the event for an award at this year's MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards. Nominations close on 16th October, so please get voting!

This year was the 8th annual Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival and the event, again, showcased some of the very best in traditional Scottish, Irish and World music with outstanding performances from The Sarah Markey Band, Damien O'Kane & Ron Block Band featuring Michael McGoldrick, Ali Hutton and Duncan Lyall, Megan Nic Fhionnghaile, Malin Makes Music, John McSherry & Francis McIlduff, Heather Cartwright, Mairi McGillivray and Blue Rose Code.

Having never been nominated before, and after a very difficult couple of years due to Covid-19, it would be fantastic for everyone involved with Trad Music Trust to receive some acknowledgment for their continued efforts in supporting traditional music, and traditional music development, in Dumfries & Galloway.

It's up to you which category you select, and you don't have to submit a vote in every category either (although we'd very much encourage you to!), so please click the following link and submit your nomination today.

Outstanding sponsorship support from Five Kingdoms Brewery

Serving local produce ensures that the project supports local businesses and the local community. A huge favourite are the beers from Five Kingdoms Brewery which are brewed in Isle of Whithorn. We are hugely grateful to Alastair and his team for their very generous support for this year's festival.

Workshops at this year's festival

With so many outstanding musicians in Newton Stewart this weekend it would be foolish not to take full advantage, and we've done just that with a superb programme of traditional music workshops which are included as part of the Weekend Pass ticket, £10 per adult or £Free for under 25s.
