The Vault Youth Project (TVYP)

Check out the snazzy new logo for The Vault Youth Project (TVYP), designed by young people who attend the project and made digital with support from Trad Music Trust's design team at The Vault Arts Centre. We're aiming to get some t-shirts and hoodies done soon, so now's a great time to join!

The Vault Youth Project (TVYP) is a youth led group for 12-25 year olds from Dumfries & Galloway based at The Vault Arts Centre in Newton Stewart.  The project aims to provide a safe, fun, environment with modern facilities for young people to organise, run and take part in creative arts and culture events and activities.

Prior to Covid-19, the group were meeting on a regular basis at The Vault Arts Centre and had already organised and delivered some fantastic live events including open mic nights and a Christmas disco, as well as regular drop-in sessions.

To provide additional support for young people at this time, the Trad Music Trust charity who organise, manage and run The Vault Arts Centre are, with support from The Holywood Trust and Newton Stewart & District Round Table, investing in new livestreaming camera and audio equipment along with musical instruments and recording facilities which are available for members of The Vault Youth Project to use to livestream their own concerts, record demo/promo videos and progress their creative learning and development.

Most of all though, TVYP is an opportunity to meet like-minded young people, express yourself through music and the arts and basically have a lot of fun!

If you're interested in joining, or you know someone who might be, simply contact our Youth Project Worker, Rhona Jones, on 01671 404924 or by e-mail at rhona@tradmusic.com.

Once the new equipment is installed, this November, we will be announcing a timetable of training & workshops, available rehearsal space, livestreaming opportunities and more, exclusively for TVYP members, so please stay tuned to our Facebook page and also the new Vault Arts Centre website which is imminent!

Outstanding sponsorship support from Five Kingdoms Brewery

Serving local produce ensures that the project supports local businesses and the local community. A huge favourite are the beers from Five Kingdoms Brewery which are brewed in Isle of Whithorn. We are hugely grateful to Alastair and his team for their very generous support for this year's festival.

Workshops at this year's festival

With so many outstanding musicians in Newton Stewart this weekend it would be foolish not to take full advantage, and we've done just that with a superb programme of traditional music workshops which are included as part of the Weekend Pass ticket, £10 per adult or £Free for under 25s.
