MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards

We're looking for your support with a nomination for this year's MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards. You can nominate us for Event of the Year (category 6) or Community Project of the Year (category 5), with nominations closing on Sunday 13th October. Thank you for your support!

Broadcast live on BBC ALBA and around the world via the iPlayer, the highly regarded MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards, now into it's 17th year, gives recognition to excellence within Scotland’s thriving musical culture, encompassing all aspects of making and performing traditional music from composing, Gaelic song, folk, Scottish dance music, pipe bands and a host of others in between.

The Nominations and Voting process is in two stages. This nomination period will close on Sunday 13th October. The voting period opens online on Monday 4th November and will run until Sunday 24th November.

You do not have to enter a nomination in every category - simply complete the categories you'd like to submit a nomination for - and click through until the survey is complete.

After 6 fantastic Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festivals, the incredible amount of hard work that has gone in to delivering those events, finalists in the Tourism Champion category at the 2018 Dumfries & Galloway Life Awards, finalists in the Best Festival category at the National E Awards in 2019 and our Festival Director being shortlisted as a finalist in the Culture Champion category at the 2019 Dumfries & Galloway Life Awards, it has been a fantastic few years for the organisation and the festival.

Your support has been outstanding over the years and we hope you'll help us put Newton Stewart & Minnigaff on the map once again at the National MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards.

Outstanding sponsorship support from Five Kingdoms Brewery

Serving local produce ensures that the project supports local businesses and the local community. A huge favourite are the beers from Five Kingdoms Brewery which are brewed in Isle of Whithorn. We are hugely grateful to Alastair and his team for their very generous support for this year's festival.

Workshops at this year's festival

With so many outstanding musicians in Newton Stewart this weekend it would be foolish not to take full advantage, and we've done just that with a superb programme of traditional music workshops which are included as part of the Weekend Pass ticket, £10 per adult or £Free for under 25s.
