by Billie Jones

Aaron & Nathon Jones

Tonight, Thu 25th Apr, at The Buccleuch and Queensberry Arms Hotel, Thornhill; Mill on the Fleet, Gatehouse of Fleet, on Fri 26th; Star Hotel, Twynholm, on Sat 27th and The Buccleuch Arms, Moffat, on Sun 28th; Festival Director Nathon Jones and twin brother Aaron perform as part of D&G Arts Live.

As a previous ’Instrumentalist of the Year’ (Scots Trad Music Awards) and a co-arranger of the current BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards ‘Traditional Song of the Year’, Aaron is one of the most sought after musicians on the folk music scene working with many of the biggest names in traditional music. Joined by twin brother Nathon Jones (regarded as one of Scotland’s finest resonator guitarists), the concert promises to be a warm and friendly night of folk songs.

Tickets for Moffat are almost sold out, so please be quick there if you're in the Moffat area.  Failing that there are still tickets available for tonight at Thornhill, tomorrow at Gatehouse of Fleet and for Saturday at Twynholm.  There will also be an opportunity to catch the duo at Auchencairn Murray Hall on Saturday 4th May.

Tickets can be purchased online via TicketSource using the button below.

This series of concerts is funded by the Support for Ambition Scheme from D&G Arts Live.

Workshops at this year's festival

With so many outstanding musicians in Newton Stewart this weekend it would be foolish not to take full advantage, and we've done just that with a superb programme of traditional music workshops which are included as part of the Weekend Pass ticket, £10 per adult or £Free for under 25s.

Highland dancing competition unable to go ahead this year

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the postponement of this year's Highland dancing competition at Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival. Continued funding cuts have meant some very difficult decisions have had to be made, however we do hope to bring this back in 2025.
