The fantastic range of beers from Five Kingdoms Brewery

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership this year with the wonderful Five Kingdoms Brewery, a microbrewery located in the beautiful Isle of Whithorn, who produce a range of distinctly individual beers using whole hops, quality malts and fresh local water.

Five Kingdoms microbrewery began in 2015 and sits in the beautiful harbourside village of The Isle of Whithorn in Dumfries and Galloway.  The small fishing village is nestled on the tip of the Machars peninsula, close to the stunning Galloway Forest hills and is Scotland’s most southerly brewery.

Five Kingdoms, so called because England, Ireland, The Isle of Man, Wales and Scotland can all be visible on a clear day from the Isle.  It came about through a mutual passion for beer of publican Alastair Scoular who owns and runs The Steam Packet Inn, the village’s only pub and his head chef Brendon Dennett. Brendon, who had previously worked at renowned Scottish brewery 6 Degrees North in Stonehaven brought this wealth of brewing knowledge to the partnership.

With the location, premises and experience of the pub trade and a pure passion for real ale, Alastair and Brendon were the perfect balance for a successful venture to create honest, fine ales.

We'd like to offer a huge thank you to Alastair Scoular and everyone at Five Kingdoms Brewery for their support and dedication to local organisations and events this year and we look forward to serving their wonderful range of beers at this year's Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival in July which we know you're going to love!

Workshops at this year's festival

With so many outstanding musicians in Newton Stewart this weekend it would be foolish not to take full advantage, and we've done just that with a superb programme of traditional music workshops which are included as part of the Weekend Pass ticket, £10 per adult or £Free for under 25s.

Highland dancing competition unable to go ahead this year

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the postponement of this year's Highland dancing competition at Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival. Continued funding cuts have meant some very difficult decisions have had to be made, however we do hope to bring this back in 2025.
