Hohner Pokerwork Two Row D/G Melodeon

We were absolutely bowled over this week to receive not one but three musical instrument donations to support the fundraising campaign for The Vault Arts Centre from the outstanding luthier David Mann at Hexham Violins; the star being this beautiful Hohner Pokerwork Two Row D/G Melodeon.

This popular D/G Melodeon has been favoured by top players for many, many years and continues to stand the test of time with it’s strident powerful tone.

We don’t play Melodeon but it’s seems to be in tune, the bass tone is incredible and it appears to be completely original. The bellows are airtight and it has two voices and eight bass.

The Melodeon appears to be complete and in good condition and it comes with an original fitted vintage hard case complete with two keys. Not sure of it’s age but like many of the original cases, there’s some minor rust on hinges and spots on the catches.

100% of the money raised from this sale will go to The Vault fundraising campaign on JustGiving (https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/thevaultartscentre),  The Vault aims to provide music tuition in local schools and make one-to-one music tuition available and affordable in Wigtownshire, Dumfries and Galloway.

We also received a beautiful Washburn B12 5-string tenor banjo and a Bouzouki which we've decided to keep a hold of just now for potential use by students at The Vault.

If you are interested in the Melodeon, please click the link below to find out more and/or submit a bid for it on eBay.  Not only will you be getting an absolutely beautiful instrument but you'll be supporting traditional music, dance and language in Dumfries & Galloway.

Outstanding sponsorship support from Five Kingdoms Brewery

Serving local produce ensures that the project supports local businesses and the local community. A huge favourite are the beers from Five Kingdoms Brewery which are brewed in Isle of Whithorn. We are hugely grateful to Alastair and his team for their very generous support for this year's festival.

With so many outstanding musicians in Newton Stewart this weekend it would be foolish not to take full advantage, and we've done just that with a superb programme of traditional music workshops which are included as part of the Weekend Pass ticket, £10 per adult or £Free for under 25s.
