Border News Lookaround

Make sure you catch Border News Lookaround at 6pm tonight (24th Jan) on ITV Border and a feature on Trad Music Trust, Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival and the charity's plans to develop a new arts centre in the former Royal Bank of Scotland building in Newton Stewart.

Chairperson Billy Jones, Vice-Chairperson Graham Rodger and Project Co-ordinator Nathon Jones spent an enjoyable day yesterday with ITV presenter Bruce McKenzie and cameraman Mike Easton talking about the festival and the plans for a new arts centre.

As well as a tour of the new arts centre building, piped in by local piper Karen Keenan, we also entertained Bruce with some live music at Creebridge House Hotel along with an interview featuring Billy and Nathon and Steve Donnan, owner and manager at the Creebridge.

It has been a terrific month of coverage for the organisation and we are hugely grateful to everyone at ITV for their enthusiasm and interest in the projects.

Outstanding sponsorship support from Five Kingdoms Brewery

Serving local produce ensures that the project supports local businesses and the local community. A huge favourite are the beers from Five Kingdoms Brewery which are brewed in Isle of Whithorn. We are hugely grateful to Alastair and his team for their very generous support for this year's festival.

Workshops at this year's festival

With so many outstanding musicians in Newton Stewart this weekend it would be foolish not to take full advantage, and we've done just that with a superb programme of traditional music workshops which are included as part of the Weekend Pass ticket, £10 per adult or £Free for under 25s.
