Everyone involved with this years Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival are delighted to have Five Kingdoms Brewery as a sponsor! Since 2015, Five Kingdoms have been producing delicious craft beers and ales fuelled by quality, local ingredients and a real passion for beer.

Five Kingdoms Brewery is a microbrewery located in the beautiful harbourside village of the isle of Whithorn. Five Kingdoms came about through a mutual passion for beer of publican Alastair Scoular who owns The Steam Packet Inn and previous head chef Brendon Dennett. Brendon, who had previously worked at the renowned Scottish brewery 6 Degrees North brought his wealth of brewing knowledge to the partnership. With the location, premises and experience of the pub trade and a pure passion for real ale, Alastair and Brendon were the perfect balance for a successful venture to create honest, fine ales. They offer a wide range of delicious craft beers from hoppy and fruity IPA’s to traditional ale styles to stronger dark beers. They are Scotland’s most southerly brewery and they continue to be inspired by local surroundings, characters, life experiences and often novels which have had an impact on their lives. Following the huge success of their cask ales, the brewery have recently began bottling and are finding it challenging to keep up with the demand. Such positive growth for Five Kingdoms is a hugely motivating factor for Alastair and Brendon to take their microbrewery from strength to strength.

Workshops at this year's festival

With so many outstanding musicians in Newton Stewart this weekend it would be foolish not to take full advantage, and we've done just that with a superb programme of traditional music workshops which are included as part of the Weekend Pass ticket, £10 per adult or £Free for under 25s.

Highland dancing competition unable to go ahead this year

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the postponement of this year's Highland dancing competition at Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival. Continued funding cuts have meant some very difficult decisions have had to be made, however we do hope to bring this back in 2025.
