E Awards Tonight!

We're off to Edinburgh tonight for the National E Awards Summer Party where the 2019 winners will be announced. The festival has been shortlisted as finalists in the Best Festival category alongside University of St Andrews, Renfrewshire Council, Party at the Palace and Edinburgh Corn Exchange.

We'll enjoy gin cocktails courtesy of Pickering's Gin, canapes and a cheese board, and a medley of entertainment during an informal networking event at the prestigious Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh, where the 2019 winners will be announced.

It's an outstanding acheivement for Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival but it simply wouldn't be possible without the support of the fantastic team of volunteers who make sure the festival happens every year, the local communities of Newton Stewart & Minnigaff and all the local businesses who sponsor the event, our funders from Dumfries & Galloway Council, Kilgallioch Community Fund and The Holywood Trust and, especially, YOU; the wonderful musicians, festival goers, friends and family who attend every year and who are so supportive of everything Trad Music Trust are trying to acheive in Dumfries & Galloway.

It's a fabulous way to welcome in the 6th annual Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival, which takes place over the 12th-14th July 2019, and we'll have everything crossed tonight for a success.

Wish us luck but, most of all, well done all of us!

Outstanding sponsorship support from Five Kingdoms Brewery

Serving local produce ensures that the project supports local businesses and the local community. A huge favourite are the beers from Five Kingdoms Brewery which are brewed in Isle of Whithorn. We are hugely grateful to Alastair and his team for their very generous support for this year's festival.

Workshops at this year's festival

With so many outstanding musicians in Newton Stewart this weekend it would be foolish not to take full advantage, and we've done just that with a superb programme of traditional music workshops which are included as part of the Weekend Pass ticket, £10 per adult or £Free for under 25s.

Highland dancing competition unable to go ahead this year

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the postponement of this year's Highland dancing competition at Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival. Continued funding cuts have meant some very difficult decisions have had to be made, however we do hope to bring this back in 2025.
