Andy Irvine

We can hardly believe it ourselves either, but the one and only Andy Irvine himself will be performing at this year's festival in a special one-off concert in the Festival Marquee to celebrate our 5th anniversary in real style! Tickets on sale from 1st March or buy an early bird weekend pass today!

Andy Irvine is one of the great Irish singers, his voice one of a handful of truly great ones that gets to the very soul of Ireland. He has been hailed as "a tradition in himself." Musician, singer and songwriter, Andy has maintained his highly individual performing skills throughout his over 50-year career. From Sweeney's Men in the mid 60s, to the enormous success of Planxty in the 70s, his duo with Paul Brady in the later 70s and then from Patrick Street to Mozaik, LAPD and Usher’s Island, Andy has been a world music pioneer and an icon for traditional music and musicians.

It is an absolute joy to be welcoming Andy to the festival this year and what we know will be a legendary performance in the Festival Marquee on Sunday 8th July (Doors from 6pm).

Tickets go on sale on Thursday 1st March or you can buy an early bird weekend pass right now and save up to £17.50 per person on the regular, combined, ticket prices for all of the concert events.  There will also be some very special weekend pass benefits this year which we'll let you know about when you arrive!

Fantastic line-up for Girvan 2019

Girvan’s guest list for 2019 is very typical of ‘Girvan’ and promises lots of great musical experiences from people firmly rooted in the tradition. It's a terrific festival, now into it's 44th year which is an outstanding achievement, and a line-up this year that has something for everyone.

6th annual music festival

The 6th annual Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival will take place over 12th-14th July 2019 and, after another outstanding programme of events in 2018 which saw us hosting Scottish Highland Dancing competitions and, as ever, some of the biggest names in traditional music, it looks set to be another packed programme and is really living up to it's reputation as one of the best rural arts festivals in Dumfries & Galloway.
