Table Top Sale at McMillan Hall on Sunday 7th April 2019

Last Sunday's table top sale at the McMillan Hall, whilst it wasn't particularly busy, raised £145.91 for The Vault Arts Centre fundraising campaign taking the overall total to £1,705.20. Huge thanks to everyone who took a table and to everyone who came along to support the event.

If you were unable to get along on the day but would still like to make a donation you can do so online by clicking the button below or you can call the Festival Office on 01671 404924 and donate in person.

There are also fantastic opportunities for stall holders at Minnigaff Playing Fields on Saturday 13th July from 10am - 5pm at the Highland dancing competition, part of the 6th annual Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival.

The dancing competition features dancers aged 5-18+ from all over the UK & Ireland who travel to the town to compete at the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing governed event, the largest Highland dancing competition in South West Scotland.

The competition runs throughout the day and, following the success of the event last year, we're expecting a significant increase in entrants this year.  There will be food/drink stalls and a range of entertainment for children including rides and bouncy castles.

Outstanding sponsorship support from Five Kingdoms Brewery

Serving local produce ensures that the project supports local businesses and the local community. A huge favourite are the beers from Five Kingdoms Brewery which are brewed in Isle of Whithorn. We are hugely grateful to Alastair and his team for their very generous support for this year's festival.

Workshops at this year's festival

With so many outstanding musicians in Newton Stewart this weekend it would be foolish not to take full advantage, and we've done just that with a superb programme of traditional music workshops which are included as part of the Weekend Pass ticket, £10 per adult or £Free for under 25s.

Highland dancing competition unable to go ahead this year

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the postponement of this year's Highland dancing competition at Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival. Continued funding cuts have meant some very difficult decisions have had to be made, however we do hope to bring this back in 2025.
