Festival band in full swing at the Cree Inn

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to the Cree Inn on Saturday 9th February and helped raise a brilliant £226.67 for The Vault Arts Centre project. That takes the running total to £496.67, which is a terrific start, with further fundraising planned over the coming weeks.

There has been a fantastic response from the local community since plans were announced to convert the former Royal Bank of Scotland building on Victoria Street, Newton Stewart, into a new arts centre supporting the annual Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival and delivering a year-round programme of music, dance and language tuition and live performances as well as arts and crafts tutoring and exhibitions.

The JustGiving fundraising campaign was launched in late January to raise funds for the project and we've been very humbled by everyone's support and generosity.

We'd like to offer a particular thanks to the following local businesses and individuals who provided us with raffle prizes on Saturday night, which was hugely popular and helped push the total raised even further.

Balloch O' Dee Campsite
Rowan Glen Dairy
Allison Motors Ltd
Inspirations
Imagination Beauty
Avocet
Scent of Galloway
Blackburn's
Cunninghame's Outdoor
Co-op Newton Stewart
Little Dot Creations

A special thank you also to Sean and everyone at the Cree Inn who provided the venue free of charge.

Outstanding sponsorship support from Five Kingdoms Brewery

Serving local produce ensures that the project supports local businesses and the local community. A huge favourite are the beers from Five Kingdoms Brewery which are brewed in Isle of Whithorn. We are hugely grateful to Alastair and his team for their very generous support for this year's festival.

Workshops at this year's festival

With so many outstanding musicians in Newton Stewart this weekend it would be foolish not to take full advantage, and we've done just that with a superb programme of traditional music workshops which are included as part of the Weekend Pass ticket, £10 per adult or £Free for under 25s.
