10,000 Voices in Action

£60,000 funding is up for grabs for youth led projects in Dumfries and Galloway and voting is open NOW until Friday 13th November! You must be between the ages of 12 - 25 to vote and you can only vote in 1 ward area. Your voice, your money, you decide!

10,000 Voices ran in Dumfries and Galloway for the duration of 2018 and is the largest collection of young people’s views in the region, with all participants aged between 10 and 25. It is therefore the views of 46.9% of all young people living, working and studying in Dumfries and Galloway, making it the largest collection of young people's views in Scotland for a single local authority area.

The project sought to gain the perceptions of 10,000 young people of the communities within which they live, which was done through formal consultations, focus groups, events and issue based groups. The whole project involved young people in every single phase, from its initial planning and development through to the delivery and the subsequent analysis and reporting of the findings.

The information gained from the consultations will inform a five year strategic plan for Young People’s Services, and will provide professionals with an excellent insight into young people’s views and priorities for all organisations working with young people across Dumfries and Galloway.

As part of the project, £60,000 funding is up for grabs for youth led projects in Dumfries and Galloway.

The Vault Youth Project (TVYP) is led by young people who are passionate about creating opportunities in music and the arts. Their ambition is to bring young people together to help reduce social isolation and increase confidence and skills through a range of activities inspired by music and creativity.

7th annual music festival

This year's Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival will take place over the 9th-11th July 2021 however, in response to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, it has been agreed that a much reduced programme be offered with a focus, this year, on the tune and song sessions which will be taking place in venues throughout the towns. We also hope to run a free outdoor concert however this will be dependent on the Scottish government advice and guidance at that time.
