Ivan Drever + Bruce McKenzie

Orcadian musician, Ivan Drever has been singing, playing and writing since his early teens in his native Orkney. Now based in Orkney he continues to play live and record new music.

Ivan Drever is a native of Sanday in Orkney but is now resident in the Norwegian town of Kristiansand. A prolific songwriter, he is instantly recognisable by his unique guitar style. Ivan’s songs have been recorded by an impressive list of artists as well as featuring on the music curriculum for Scottish schools.

Having worked with the Knowe O’Deil and as a solo artist, Ivan joined Wolfstone in 1990, their work saw them perform worldwide and produced several award-winning albums. He composed music and performed with the dance company ’Celtic Fusion’ He was one third of the trio Drever McGuire Young with whom he recorded two albums, ‘The Gift’ and ‘The Return of The Shoestring Orchestra.’

Now resident in Norway, Ivan has toured England, Scotland, Denmark, Norway, and North America. A performance at the Orkney Folk Festival was issued on CD in 2021. His latest studio recording is 'Dreev'. Ivan’s current live set features songs chosen from across his albums which feature on his 2024 CD/DVD release of a concert recorded at the Kilden Teater Og Konserthus in Kristiansand, Norway. This year sees him undertaking a new tour of Scottish venues.

Opening for Ivan will be Kirkcudbright singer-songwriter Bruce McKenzie.  For more than a decade on radio and more than two decades on stage, he’s played other people’s songs; but now he’s performing some of his own.  With influences from both sides of the Atlantic, his small town stories are steeped in coastal life.
