Rhona & Nathon Jones @ Scotland's National Book Town

Rhona & Nathon Jones join the Association of Wigtown Booksellers to celebrate the 20th anniversary of being declared Scotland’s National Book Town.​

Scottish singer Rhona Jones hails from Wigtown and is well known for her beautiful lead vocals and harmonies. Rhona performs as a duo with her husband Nathon and also with the Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival band who perform regularly in the region.

Nathon Jones sings and plays resonator and acoustic guitar, 5-string and Irish tenor banjos and has performed at festivals throughout the UK and Ireland including the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow. He also performed music for the Katie Morag BBC television series as well as guesting on albums by Old Blind Dogs, Norrie MacIver, Laura-Beth Salter, Al Price and Huey Dowling. He is the Founder and Festival Director of Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival and is very well known locally for his passion for music.

6th annual music festival

The 6th annual Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival will take place over 12th-14th July 2019 and, after another outstanding programme of events in 2018 which saw us hosting Scottish Highland Dancing competitions and, as ever, some of the biggest names in traditional music, it looks set to be another packed programme and is really living up to it's reputation as one of the best rural arts festivals in Dumfries & Galloway.
